The Countdown has Begun

I love Christmas.

I know, many people do. I really love Christmas. Like, if Clark Griswald had discovered Michael Bublé after learning that Ralph was his real father, loves Christmas. At 51, I am perpetually Susan at the end of “Miracle on 34th Street”. I believe. My bell still rings.

Yeah, I love Christmas.

And now I live where there is snow, so you know…

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming

Every year, I host an advent calendar counting down to the big day. I will be using Christmas Carols to sing in the holidays. And remember how I said I love Christmas? You know, like one paragraph ago. Of course, Traci! I know, I know. Moving on. Yes, well, I love, love Christmas and the music is high on the reasons.

Music in my DNA

It’s almost in the DNA. As a child, falling asleep on the couch to the lights of tree with a stack of records dropping one by one on the stereo. The smooth voices of Andy Williams and Bing Crosby serenading the sugar-plums into my dreams.

Later, I dated around the tree with not just Peggy Lee but Elton and Paul. Oh, and Wham! Sweet, sweet Wham. Forgive me, while I indulge in a moment remembering George and Andrew in their scarves. Yes, ye-ye-ye-e-e-sss, I know. But I didn’t then. Don’t spoil my moment.

Whew! I needed that and I figured I would share, because, I mean….

No seriously, I am back.

This Music Defined My Spirit Year-round

The music even helped me grow as a person. From that same crush asking me if others knew it was Christmas to John and Yoko pronouncing war was over while bombs fell in black & white. The one, however, that hit the most deeply was sung in the ripe, sweet tones of Mr. Stevie Wonder. “Someday” at Christmas may be the most compelling song for the betterment of humanity out there.

With all that in mind, ringing in the holiday with these great songs is an annual tradition and I hope you will join me in the fun. Have a favorite you would like to see pop up behind the circle, let me know.

Welcome to my Advent Calendar
