5 Reasons to Visit Bangkok

The last two years, I have felt my wanderlust go into overdrive. Anyone else? I was traveling a decent amount domestically, and always dreaming of international travel pre-Covid, and then the world shut down. Now that it has opened again, all of those dreams have exploded like fireworks. Recently, my eyes have turned eastward,

It is my Universe, after all.

When it comes to travel, I love places that offer history, culture and architectural beauty, as well as excellent food and, of course, wonderful people. Bangkok is such a city and when I was about ten, one of my friends moved to Thailand, therefore I have been fascinated with it since.. Knowing that many love to visit Bangkok every single year because it can be hugely relaxing adds to the appeal right now.

Traveling as a family

Bangkok is actually a great place for families to visit, too. You may decide to visit the best lifestyle hotel Bangkok has to offer or choose an apartment in the center of the city. As the vibrant capital of Thailand, there are many reasons to visit Bangkok, but here are five:.

Eastern Dreaming - 5 Reasons to Visit Bangkok

  • There’s the opportunity to visit the Grand Palace. Sitting on 54 acres and once the private home of the monarchy in Thailand, the Grand Palace has been there since 1782. It’s like stepping into history, and there are the murals of the Ramayana — the longest wall painting in all the world. If art and architecture are what interest you, this might be your spot.

  • The food. Oh, the food. I love Thai food here in the United States. Of course, I shall be looking to take in all the wonderful food there. It's always one of the best reasons to visit Thailand, and Bangkok is renowned for its amazing food. I have heard that the street food at Patpong Night market or Damnoen Saduak floating market do not disappoint. The flavors, the tastes, the essence and the smells are mind blowing. Some of the best street food dishes and the freshest seafood, marinated and grilled meat and Thai desserts can be found here over anywhere else. So, yeah come hungry!

  • Shopping. Need I say more? We all know I love to shop and Bangkok offers some of the best Thai markets in the country. It offers high end shopping plazas and the authentic floating markets, as well as the open air markets that offer everything from knickknacks and wares to food and drinks. I will likely be found in the open air markets most, but a floating market does sound intriguing.

There are even photo shoot sessions available on the wooden boats, along the water. How beautiful must that be?These boats are packed with all of the items that the locals are selling, and it's definitely something to indulge in.

  • The nightlife. Now, if I manage to go without my kids, evidently Bangkok is the perfect place hang out for an evening in style. There are bars in the city, restaurants by the river and nights out on the river with cruises. The views themselves are worth it. Water views + food = Extra happy Traci!!!

  • Finally, the nature. Thailand is know for its incredible greenery including the jungle, but the Bang Krachao Gardens is a good place to have a little quiet time. As I mentioned above, my wanderlust may have taken hold, but lately a relaxing, soulful trip is what I am looking for. They're different from the busy streets of Bangkok, which makes them an exciting place to visit. You can slow down and walk the trails and see the tropical lakes and trees that you can't see in the city.
