The Big Red Dog we all grew up with from book fairs to cartoons has gone full HD. Yeah, that’s a lot of red, and a lot of love. Oh, and a little magic, too. Well, maybe a little more than a little.
Our friend Emily (Darby Camp) is having a tough time and she is in serious need of that magic. Fortunately for her, an animal rescuer named Bridwell (John Cleese), yes, Bridwell, has more than enough magic and a little, red puppy.
“How big is he gonna get?”
”That depends, doesn’t it?”
”On what?”
”How much you love him.”
No spoiler alert is necessary here — Emily loves Clifford. She loves him so much, he grows ten feet overnight. And hilarious hijinx ensue including a mad scientist who tries to capture Clifford, and an entire NYC neighborhood working together to hide Clifford as they race across the city.
As I said, it could be worse.
