A Cinderella Story: Starstruck

We all know the story of Cinderella, but in this version, `Ella is replaced by Finley (played by Bailee Madison) a farm-smart gal who dreams of barnstorming Hollywood with her talent. Her insta-fame obsessed step-siblings Saffron and Kale (played by Lillian Doucet-Roche and Richard Harmon) and has-been stepmother Valerian(April Telek) do everything they can to squash Finley’s dreams.

Hollywood Dreams

In the magic that is a fairy tale, Hollywood comes to Finley when a film crew chooses her sleepy town for production. And they even are offering up a role to a local lady across from the leading man. And who is the Prince of this ball, mhmm, I mean film? Finley’s heartthrob, Jackson Stone (Michael Evans Behling).

Finley and Saffron audition for this dream role but in a disastrous scene involving a pig and a lot of mud, she turns back into a pumpkin. In a Shakespearean twist, however, she lands a role as “Huck”, a male actor, while falling in love with Jackson as herself. This cute twist on Twelfth Night was especially appreciated by me.

A Cinderella Story: Starstruck is a very family-friendly play on the classic tale. The leads are likable and the Hollywood twist with the Tiktok flare has a fun modern element that kids are likely to love. Pop the corn and pull out the pillows for a night with the stars.

This is the sixth installment in the A Cinderella Story movie series. Other titles include A Cinderella Story (Hilary Duff), Another Cinderella Story (Selena Gomez), A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (Lucy Hale) A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (Sofia Carson), and A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (Laura Marano).
