Friday Fragments #14
Welcome to another edition of Friday Fragments. A big thank you to Mrs. 4444 over at Half Past Kissin' Time for hosting. Friday Fragments is an opportunity to share moments or other thoughts that don't quite make a blog post of their own. Today, I'll start with my first Disney Frag:A bit of wisdom learned from our recent trip to DisneyWorld Do not lean over the automatic flushing toilet to assist your daughter. The toilet may will read that as the perfect moment to flush. In your face!********************************************************************************************************************************************It may not be Thanksgiving yet but Christmas fever has begun...I don't know about you but I don't like for my Christmas to start until after Thanksgiving. I was recently in a hotel and the Hallmark Movie Channel was already playing Christmas movies around the clock. I love, Love, LOVE Christmas movies but not on the 12th of November! Worse yet, there were Christmas commercials during "It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". My kids screamed at the TV -- "it's not even Thanksgiving, mom!" Yes, yes, I know.I love watching Santa come down Herald Square in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. I guess I am a kid at heart but that's when the Christmas season begins. Before that , I want pilgrims and turkey! But even as they say they don't want Christmas before Thanksgiving, the listing has begun. And the lists are long. So, so long.Oh and then there was this...Waking up my daughter on Sunday morningMe: Good morning.Little Diva: Good morning (and without a second breath) Mommy, I'm old enough for a camera.Me: Okay... where did that come from? Did you dream about a camera?Little Diva: (Nodding) Yep!Me: Well, maybe you can ask for one for Christmas.I guess I know where Santa is headed this year -- after all, she's dreaming about it!************************************************************************************On a completely different note (and that is the benefit of the Frags!), I had one of those moments when I realized my age. The truth is that when I am not looking at myself, I can forget that I am 42. Mentally I stopped around 29 or 30. This is reinforced when I hear a song that I love. A song comes on the radio and I am jamming out, completely forgetting about the car seats in the back and lines around my eyes.I was having a moment like that when Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" came on. I am singing loud an proud when I hear myself singing this verse:The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your ageBut that don't worry me none in my eyes you're everythingI laughed at all of your jokes my love you didn't need to coaxOh, Maggie I couldn't have tried any moreYou lured me away from home, just to save you from being aloneYou stole my soul and that's a pain I can do withoutAt that moment, I realized that I was much more like Maggie than Rod at this point. I fell in love with the song when I was a teen and of course, related to the young man. Suddenly, I had this epiphany that I could be (dare I say it...) even OLDER than Maggie. Aack! You can watch Rod in his 1971 glory here but when I realized he was still singing the song, I figured I was still okay -- LOL!************************************************************************************Finally, our weather has been crazy weird. In the last week we went from the 30s to 90 and our prepping for a 45 degree drop over the next 24 hours. I wore a sundress today and am pulling out my coat for tomorrow. I am suffering from weather whiplash! So that's were my fragments are landing, now go check out other Friday Fragments.
