What's Happening - McDonald's Happy Meals

My kids love McDonalds. And truth be told, I can put away a few of their fries. In fact, it's no surprise that the kids love the Golden Arches as I CRAVED Mickey D fries during my pregnancies. Now we don't consider it everyday food. It's a treat. That said, however, I do care about what's in it and I had an awesome opportunity to learn more about McDonald's Happy Meals and their offerings. On Saturday, I had an opportunity with other great Austin bloggers to visit with an owner/operator - Delmy Ustariz, a lovely lady and a huge testament to hard work. She and her husband both started as cooks decades ago!Delmy with long-time friend & manager LuisAlong with dietitian, Katy Hall, they shared McDonalds commitment to helping parents make the best fast food choices for their children. A while back, they expanded the Happy Meal choices to include milk, juice, and apple slices. They have now added a Go-Gurt tube (a big win with my daughter!) as a side and a wrap as an entree. And the new menu boards are making calorie facts very clear to further support the best choices.

As a part of the McDonald's Go-Gurt Happy Meal Launch Party, we were offered a wonderful Smoothie and wraps -- I personally tasted and enjoyed the Ranch McWrap! They are so committed to transparency, they opened up the kitchen to us!Check this out:

And here are some of the other great folks at the party. Boy, am I on good company!  A big thanks to the Orange Wall Collective for including me and to the wonderful folks at the I-35 McDonalds! It was a great time and I definitely feel better driving through and picking up a Happy Meal every now and then.
