Friday Fragments #22 -- Valentine's Edition
Happy Valentine's Day!Welcome to another fragmented look into my life and today my mind naturally falls to Valentine's Day.First, I wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day! I know there are many who don't celebrate it for a multitude of reasons. Some call it a Hallmark holiday; created solely to sell candy, cards, and even jewelry. Others who are not currently in a romantic relationship can feel alienated by the swirl of Dinners for Two and romantic movies. Personally, I find it a sweet opportunity to remind others that they are loved. If you are loved, romantic or otherwise, you have a Valentine. And if you came here today, you are loved by me so you are my Valentine! On a second note, however, I always think about kids going to school and exchanging Valentines. I was a misfit during school and related greatly to Charlie Brown. I watched this every year as a child and have to set to watch tonight with my kids. The thought of a child going home with an empty box is heartbreaking to me. I am glad that my kids' school follows the "bring one for everyone" policy. I know it gets trickier with junior high and I am not looking forward to that.Speaking of the kids, here is a classic difference between a six year old girl...
Homemade Valentines drawn by hand as opposed to ready-made superheroes...
They did come with pencils, though!
Either way, they made one for each classmate and tucked them away in their bags ready for today's party!
I wish you all a happy Friday and Valentine's Day! Check out other Fragmented Fridays over at Half Past Kissin' Time.
