This past weekend the new Pollyanna theater show, "Plus and Minus The Vacation Adventure" opened and I happily spent part of Mother's Day with my family at the show.

I was very excited to learn that Pollyanna had brought back Addy Plus and Minus Takeaway. They were two of my favorite characters offering fun, silliness, and a great way to look at differences.

In this episode, Plus and Minus decide to take a vacation. As usual Addy thinks more is better and they should bring everything and go everywhere, especially places that are big, fast, and full of people. Minus returns with his subtracting self to take away what Addy's packed and seek out the loneliest place is possible.

But when they get stuck at a County Fair, they learn to work together to solve the mystery - the mystery of all the halved and sliced items throughout; especially the map they need so desperately to get home. There they discover Pollyanna's latest character Slice McGillicutty who loves to cut everything into two. Along the way, Addy and Minus discover two halves still make a whole and hope to convince Slice that sometimes a whole is better than two halves.

I loved this play. It teaches both math and fractions in a fun way, as well as great lessons in understanding that just because one likes something his way, he has to think about the effect on others. As Slice learns this, so do we.

We always try to attend the show with the after party. Little Diva loves meeting the cast. Or at least she usually does but this time she got shy. That is until the sweet actor who plays Minus offered up his sunglasses.
