Charitable Stars -- Vitamin Angels

Charitable StarsLast month I had the amazing opportunity to attend Mom 2.0 Summit. Those of you who follow my Instagram and Twitter are quite aware of that fact! I met a lot of great bloggers and brands, heard inspirational speakers, and was introduced to several wonderful charities. One really touched my heart. In fact, I may have started crying in the middle of the cocktail party as I spoke with a representative. That charity is Vitamin Angels.tumblr_n83ql10BYq1svryc3o1_1280It never ceases to amaze me that I can be educated and relatively socially aware and yet find myself completely unaware of needs in the world. In my blessed naive life, vitamins have always been readily available. In fact, the first OB appointment I had with each pregnancy ended with a handful of vitamins and a prescription for more. So easy. I never thought.I never thought about the millions who live where no such handful is distributed; where no such prescription is filled. I never thought of those women who struggle so to have enough food and water that vitamins never cross their mind. I never thought of those babies born without this accepted standard of prenatal care.I never thought so I never knew. But now I know. And knowing, I feel compelled to do something... anything to help. So today, I want you to know about Vitamin Angels, an organization that is doing something.Their mission is simple and concise:

Vitamin Angels helps at-risk populations in need – specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five – gain access to lifesaving and life changing vitamins and minerals.

Simple to say but not simple to do. Yet possible. Possible with your help. With my help. With our help. Let's spread the word and the love. Let's spread the vitamins.I'd love if it you can donate. Even a few dollars can change the future of a child. You can donate here. More though, I am asking you to share what you've learned. Share this piece or their site or even this precious pic of my beautiful and healthy niece wearing her Vitamin Angel Wings.Vitamin Angels Photo The world is always telling us that the problems are too big, that they can't be fixed, or if they can be fixed, you need to be famous or powerful to solve them. Vitamin Angels tells me that the problems are not too big, they can be fixed, and I don't need to be famous to solve them. I may not be powerful but we can be powerful together. Vitamin Angels tells me that if we all do what we can, we can do a lot. So, let's do it!
