On a Day Like Today
I have had 42 days like today at very different stages of my life. Today I couldn't help but reflect on a few of them.On this day in 1976, I celebrated my 5th birthday as the country celebrated 200. My mother told me that the giant firework shows were on my behalf. I believed her. On another note, if you want to know where my delusions of grandeur developed, you now have your clue.On this day in 1983, I was surprised by my mother. After years of being told that I would not be allowed to get my ears pierced until 13, she took me to the local Merle Norman where a tiny pair of gold studs were inserted into my lobes. On this day in 1987, I got my drivers license! On this day in 1994, I was a bride planning her wedding. On this day in 1996, I was planning a move to San Francisco. I had been accepted into the American Conservatory Theater Advanced Training Program. I felt on the precipice of my lifetime dreams of the stage coming to fruition. On this day in 2000, I was planning a move to New York.On this day in 2001, I was living in New York and had just been cast in a play. And I turned 30!On this day in 2002, I was visiting my husband at Fort Meade, MD where my husband was in training for his position as an Air Force photographer. On this day in 2003, I was expecting my first child. Sonny-Bunny was providing a very visible bump at five months. On this day in 2006, I was lying down; almost the whole day. I was about five weeks pregnant and felt adrift on a boat that only I was on. Hubby had just been deployed to El Paso, TX. At 35, I was feeling very pitiful. On this day in 2008, I passed out during my birthday dinner. This began a still evolving odyssey of healthcare workers, lack of diagnosises, and many, MANY pills. On this day in 2010, I announced this blog. At 39, I transitioned from 38 and Growing to A Star in My Own Universe. I hope I am still growing in this Universe. On this day in 2011, I turned the Big 40!And then there's today. On this day, I am 43. I am alive. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am a daughter, sister, and friend. I hope I am a force of good in this world. I am blessed on this day and everyday!
