Friday Fragments #45 -- Failure Frags

Failure Frags

First, I have to say that with the beginning of school for the kids, my start of the semester as a student, and the incredible heat, which is killing me, I have a large list of personal failures. I have forgotten snacks and missed swim practice. I have been a very a little cranky and struggling with the new routine. That said, I have few others to share.

I give a big fail to the FedEx deliveryman who marked the signature-required package as “signature not requested” and then left it at the wrong house despite it being addressed perfectly. (That said I give an A+ to the neighbor who carried the awkward and slightly heavy box to our door!)I double down on the FedEx fail. After three phone calls, I learned the process the organization uses to investigate my lost package. They would not give me any information for my Thursday package until the following Tuesday – yep 5 days.  The people I spoke with were very nice and as helpful as they could be which, sadly, was not at all. Not exactly what I call time-sensitive. (I also double down, however, on that awesome neighbor).

I give a big fail to our local mailman who did not deliver my package but did not leave it at the post office as the card indicated. I made a trip to the office and they shrugged.  The gentleman who helped me took my phone number and said the driver would call me. Two days later, I had heard nothing when my husband and I pass a parked USPS truck on the way home. When I open our mailbox, I find another peach card.We drive back the 1/8 mile hoping to catch the truck. Not only did we catch the truck, we caught the driver napping. He was in such a deep sleep; I had to say “excuse me” three times to awaken him. When asked about the new card, he told me the box wasn’t even on the truck. So I asked him about the older card, and he “thought” the package was at the home office. Are you feeling my frustration? Finally, I get a call from him (remember I left my number two days before) confirming the packages are at the office. At least that’s what it think he said. He still sounded asleep. Long story not so short, I got my two packages after three tries. And lest you think I’m not patient; the same scenario with cards that do not result in actual packages at pickup (minus the napping; that was new) has played out three times.

For the record, I am sure that millions of packages are delivered exactly as desired everyday by thousands of terrific employees. I just had the misfortune of experiencing both of these less than wins (and by that I mean fails) in one week! Here’s wishing you a Failure free Friday and week. If you have any Frags to share, failure or otherwise, head over to Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissin’ Time to share.
