The funny things that I think about. Is is ironic that  the latest "Hunger Games" opened just before Thanksgiving? Probably just me.

Did you travel for the holiday?

We drove to Houston where my parents and in-laws live. I avoid flying for Holidays if at all possible. Years ago, when I lived in New York, my husband and I wanted to fly home. The only day we could afford to travel was actually on Thanksgiving Day. We flew (insert airline name here) which required a plane change at their Atlanta hub. The weather was beautiful and we landed slightly early. We landed but we didn't arrive.Due to a computer glitch, they couldn't bring us into the gate. We sat on the runway for over two hours. No one was moving in or out so we were promised that the connecting flights would not be leaving before us. Except that was wrong. Once the computers were up, the (now hated) airline made the decision to release all of the departing flights before bringing in the arrivals. I'm not sure which exec thought that was a good idea but I assure you, the beleaguered customer service folks did not appreciate it any more than the customers. Because it was a small carrier, the next flights out for most of us were twelve or more hours later.Unlike so many, we had extended family in Atlanta who brought us to their home rather than spending 13 hours in the airport. Nonetheless, it has burned me on traveling for a holiday.

Speaking of plane travel, I couldn't resist sharing this.Today on GMA, they showed a woman bringing a huge pork-belly pig on a plane as an emotional support animal. Who brings a pig on a plane? Well, evidently this lady.Let's pull in for a closer look.PIgs Do FlyYou really can't blame the ABC guy for labeling it "proof that pigs do fly".As crowded as planes are, I can't imagine  how she thought this would be okay. Did she buy the pig a seat? I mean it is huge. Anyway, it probably will not surprise you that she and the pig were asked to leave. The supposed emotionally supportive animal became disruptive. Maybe pigs can fly, they just don't like to.

Finally, we were blessed to be with family yesterday. My MIL cooked up a feast despite still recovering from a hip replacement. We ate our fill. Later that night, this is how my kids looked on the drive home.Post Turkey Sleep Whether it is the tryptophan or simply too much food and too much everything, something about Thanksgiving sure can make us tired.
