What's Happening -- Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles, The Review

WH LogoLast night, I had the immense pleasure of attending the Opening Night of Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles. Wow! What a show!  As it is only a 3-show run in Austin, I wanted to share how highly I recommend it so you have a chance of catching it.The show really lives up to its name. It is a tribute in the highest sense of the word. And boy did they make it rain! An entirely live show, the four musicians channel the Fab Four in an uncanny way. Vocally, they are impressive especially in the harmonies. There were moments that they were indistinguishable from their inspiration. But more so, the musicianship of the four plus an additional keyboardist is tremendous. The members move smoothly between multiple guitars and the piano to create the full Beatles experience. The lead guitarist is worthy of any George Harrison solo. His work on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was extraordinary. The show travels from the early Ed Sullivan days all the way through the breakup. They set the time and place with actual footage and fun graphics running behind them. Rain is a reminder of just how strong and diverse a band the Beatles really were. These men really honored that.  I felt like I had a Beatles experience; something that would never have been possible. That's how good the show is. Mr. Hero and I got a rare date night and it could not have been more perfect! Here's what you should know. This is a concert experience not a theatrical one. The musicians talk to the crowd. They interact. They want you to sing along and stand up and simply enjoy yourself as you would at a concert. So be prepared to "Na na na, nana na na" your heart out. But if you decide to go for the ride, you won't regret it!001_RAINEdSullivanphotobyCyllavonTiedemann - resized
