Writing Wednesday #2
It's Wednesday and I thought I'd share some actual writing.
The God’s Eye
(A Response to Kelli Russell Agodon’s “In the 70’s, I Confused Macrame and Macabre)
It watched over me at night
Orange and brown and white,
Wrapped and twisted, dark and light.
It kept me safe when tucked in tight.
I hated it.
The dark brown diamond eye
Glared at me like a spy
Daring me to sleep, daring me to try
To feel safe; know I wouldn’t die.
I hated it.
It carried the souls from the past.
In my head, the thoughts swirl so fast
Like a sailor who clings to the mast.
I wondered how long the night would last.
I hated it.
