Friday Fragments with Star2

Welcome to Friday Fragments. If you haven’t fragged before, Friday Fragments is a place to share those thoughts, quips, and tidbits that don’t quite make a whole post, e.g. fragments or frags. I host every Friday and would love for you to join in. Please link up and visit other Fraggers.

It's Friday. It's not just any Friday. It's the Friday before Halloween. Do you trick or treat? Dress up? This year, my daughter has convinced me to go as Ghoulia, a Monster High character.

My daughter bought me the official MH glasses and I am even trying the Kool Aid trick to make my hair blue. I have always wanted to try out a fun color and never done it. I figured that Halloween was a great excuse to try. Admittedly, the fact that I am due for a trip to the hairdresser soon anyway helps. If it is a complete disaster, or doesn't wash out in a reasonable time, I'll let the professional fix it. :-)

I have shared that my kids often use their own vocabulary. Little Diva has taken on "tooken". I remember doing the same thing at her age. This was her response, however, when I tried to correct her.Me: Taken. There is no such word as tooken.
LD: Well, there should be. I am going to need an appointment with the Queen.Me: The Queen?LD: Yes, the Queen of England. It's their fault that English is so weird!
There you have it. My daughter is requesting an audience with the queen to address the irregularities of verb conjugation in the English language. Remember Madonna on American Bandstand? Well, LD is just like that -- she's going to rule the world. Of course, we didn't nickname Little Diva for nothing.

I realized this week that I use completely outdated cultural references to my children. One day, they are going to be on a therapist's couch complaining about the nonsense that their addled mother spoke to them. For example, in the morning I'll say, "It's time to 'come alive' like Peter Frampton." They have no idea who Peter Frampton is or why he would come alive but I say it. The funny thing is they never ask who these people are or why I say these things. I think they are resigned to the fact that Momma has lost it.

Finally, for a smile... I found this on my phone. It seems this Happy Meal really was a happy meal.
Happy Meal
That's my Fragments. I hope your week brings you lots of reasons to smile. Have a safe and happy Halloween!
