What's Happening -- Kinky Boots

Austin As a teen in the '80s, music and fashion went hand in hand. And no one emulated that more than Cyndi Lauper. With her bright hair and Betsy Johnson dresses, she proved that girls really did just want to have fun. To this day, I cannot resist singing along to that or any of her other hits. I played her albums over and over and wished I could be as brash and confident as she seemed. When I heard, therefore, that she was working with Harvey Fierstein on a Broadway musical, I knew I must see it!Well, guess what I am doing next week?!?Cyndi Lauper, musical, Kinky BootsYep, Lexus Broadway in Austin is bringing "Kinky Boots" to the Bass Concert Hall and I will be there! (Insert squealing and jumping up and down here.) The Tony award winning production is inspired by true events. A young man, Charlie Price, is struggling to keep his family shoe business alive. A chance meeting with Lola, a performer with a need for "sturdy new stilettos" creates an unlikely but fortuitous opportunity. Fashion and music collide again in an inspiring story with book by Fierstein and music by Lauper.Kinky Boots, Broadway, AustinNow isn't that Fabulous?
