The One Question To Ask My Kid Tonight (and Every Night)
As a mom, I tend to ask myself a lot of questions. Most of them center on "am I a good mom?" One of the big ones is "do my kids know they are loved?" So when Stonyfield asked me to write about what question I should ask my children tonight, I knew what that question should be.
"Do you know that you are loved unconditionally?"
Now when I asked Sonny-Bunny, he rolled his eyes a bit at me. Possibly because I interrupted Minecraft or maybe because in some ways, it's not a new question. For years, we have had the following dialogue:Me; Do I love you?SB: Yes.Me: A little or a lot?SB: A lot.Me: A little lot or a lot a lot?SB: A lot a lot.But this time I wanted to go a little deeper. So I changed the rhythm and asked, "Do you know that I love you just as you are no matter what?" He nodded without looking at me. I said, "He, look at me." He did and I said it again. "Do you know that I love you? No matter what."He looked me in the eyes and said, "Yes, Mommy. I do."I'm pretty sure that this answer filled my heart more than his. That's okay. I know that he knows and for today one less question needs to be answered. Now if I could just figure out how to get my kids to make their beds, I'd be rocking this parenting thing.

I love working as a Yo-Getter because it's about more than healthy food. It's about supporting healthy families. Thanks, Stonyfield for encouraging me to ask the one question. I really liked the answer. What question do you need to ask your children tonight?
