Friday Fragments #28

Friday Fragments with Star2 It's the second Friday of 2016. If you're still writing 2015 on everything, raise your hand.Trust me, mine is held way u high! In fact, it usually takes me until about Spring Break or so to get it right.Since I didn't resolve anything this year, I haven't broken any resolutions. Well, not exactly. Rather than resolve, I am working on staying more relaxed and present. I am also trying to collect every receipt and record it. We are still spending money that we don't realize and we need to track down and control that. It has been a bit of a struggle, especially for Mr. Hero. He can lose a receipt in the 20-foot walk to the car from check out. We'll get there... eventually.

Yesterday was a big day in our house. After a week of binge watching all six Star Wars movies, we took the kids to see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". No spoilers here, I promise. Just a picture of my face immediately following...Star Wars, nostalgiaI laughed. I cried. As a child, I saw "A New Hope" in the theater. Of course, we just called it "Star Wars", then. For years, I thought the trilogy was "Star Wars", "The Empire Strikes Back", and "The Return of the Jedi".Having been very disappointed by the prequels, I withheld judgment on this reboot. It is so good. My inner seven-year-old completely geeked out. To any lingering Gen-X hold-outs... go see it. Take your kids. You will love  sharing it with them. We're still talking about it.On a side note, we noticed something odd while watching the original three on video. In "A New Hope", they all pronounce Leia "Lee-uh" and without commentary, begin pronouncing it "Lay-uh" in Empire. Weird, huh? At first, I thought I misheard. I listened really carefully thereafter and it was consistent. I even checked with hubby for confirmation. Who knew?

Maybe the whole Star Wars thing has us nostalgic, but Mr. Hero and I have been talking about 70's toys. Who remembers Mr. Stretch? My brothers went through several. They would stretch it too far and it would break open. Inside was the nastiest goo. I am pretty sure we don't want to know what it was.

My 12 year-old son said "yada yada" to me this week. Part of me is insulted but as a huge Seinfeld fan, a little part of me is pleased. Finally, I love how my daughter has not completely lost her baby voice. She still says certain words in her own way. Right now, my favorite is cleavage. She pronounces it "clevelage" like cleavage meeting Cleveland. Imagine if Valerie Bertinelli had starred in "Still Hot in Clevelage"!

That's it for me, this Friday. I hope you will join in the fragging fun. Just collect those thoughts, quips, and mini-stories from the week that don't quite make a post, aka frags. I host a linky every week and love reading other Fragments!
