What's Happening - "The Sound of Music"; The Review

Do-Re-Mi-FI.jpg

Austin On Tuesday night, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend "The Sound of Music" at Bass Concert Hall. I took my mom to celebrate her birthday and what a celebration it was! Here is my review in a nutshell:

The show is wonderful. Go see it!

I was honestly brought to tears more than once. After the Mother Superior breaks into "Climb Every Mountain" at the Act Break, I was still wiping away tears when the lights came up for intermission, as was my mom and both women sitting in front of us.I had only seen the film version before this performance and things are slightly different. Fear not, however, all of your favorite songs are there and this cast does not disappoint! In fact, I was newly moved by the Festival scene. The Austrian storyline seemed more prominent to me in the stage version than the movie and I was deeply affected by the "Edelweiss" moment. I was ready to stand and sing along. Don't worry I stayed in my seat. Well, at least until the end. I was up as soon as the curtain went down. The show truly deserved the standing ovation it received. The show is playing through the weekend and I couldn't recommend it more.Austin, Sound of Music
