Friday Fragments #53 -- Too Sad to Frag
Normally I would begin this post with a "Happy Friday" welcoming you to another installment of my Friday Frags. And in a week I turned 45, I had plenty to share between cute things my daughter said, tween boy humor, finally seeing "Dory", and updates on our house hunt. However, as I wake yet again to more gun violence, it feels inappropriate to share these tidbits today. Two black men died at the hands of police officers wrongly this week. And then, last night, five police officers died while protecting a peaceful protest. Both are wrong. All of those mens' lives mattered and I am desperately sorry for all of their families. So, in another time, I will share all my quips and random thoughts, but for today, I will just share a candle for those who were lost in such senselessness. "The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars."
