reviews Family movie night is a big thing in our home. We eagerly await when a new film makes it to the Blu-Ray/DVD shelf. This week, we were fortunate enough to bring "The Star" home.

I received a copy of "The Star" for the purpose of this review. The opinions are all mine. It is my Universe, after all.

We had missed this one at the theaters, and my daughter was especially eager to see this one. So we clambered onto the couch with a bowl of popcorn between us to take in this delightful tale of a donkey who longs to break free of his ordinary life and become a part of the royal parade. Little does he know that he will one day share in the birth of Jesus and become a part of a wholly different royal brigade. The Star, DVD, movie review, reviewAfter escaping from a grain mill that literally left Bo walking in circles, he is taken in by a young couple named Joseph and Mary. Yes, that Joseph and Mary. And yes, he is that donkey, the one that carries Mary in her expectant state. Along the way, he ;and his friends, including Ruth a love-able , if wise-cracking lamb, learn about themselves as they become participants in the most famous menagerie everBeyond the telling of the Christmas tale, the Star takes a look at what it is to have a great responsibility given to you, whether desired or not. Mary and Joseph feel the burden of carrying the Child of God. Bo has been waiting for his call to greatness. Three camels carry greatness on their backs. All of these paths meet under a bright, shining star calling across the Universe. The viewer learns from both paths. We enjoyed our popcorn time and family time and we definitely recommend it to our readers whether you enjoy it as a new holiday classic or just family time on the couch.thestar, DVD, blu-ray, bluray, review
