Did I Just See That?

One of the side effects of having a chronic illness is a lot of TV time.  This translates into an overworked DVR and a lot of late night viewing. (Second side effect -- tired all day yet often wide awake at night.)With these forces at work, I also see a LOT of commercials, including for As Seen on TV Products. There are the staples -- Proactiv, Bare Minerals, that have pretty high production values and even a few celebrity endorsements. Then there are the second tier -- Oxiclean, etc. Both of these tiers include products that are also sold in stores (outside of the distinct "As Seen on TV" section).Then there are the others.  You've probably seen them. Those products that seem to live and die on the television. One of my favorite bloggers, Momma Mia, swears by the Pajama Jean which I may or may not have learned by trashing them here. My husband bought me the Forever Lazy which is like an adult sized Zip-Up Sleeper and as ugly as, well, as ugly you can imagine an adult-sized Zip-Up Sleeper to be. It is, however, super comfy! I have owned a Sham Wow (which was much more sham and a less wow!). I have even considered those bra "thingies" that are supposed to stay on without any straps.And then there are the various gadgets that are sold. Gadgets for the kitchen. Gadgets for the car. Gadgets for just abut everything. It's always interesting to me that "if you call in the next 30 minutes, because (they) can't do this all day", they will double the offer. Why do I need two? Are they expecting the first one to break? Why can't they just cut the price in half? And they always say, "just pay shipping and processing". How much more processing is involved in throwing another one in the box? What if I don't want the second one?  As you can see, I put way too much thought into these commercials.Today, however, I saw an ad that took the prize. Speaking of Sham Wow, do you remember the Sham Wow guy? Well, he's back and he has a new "miracle" product. It's called Schticky. Yes, "Schtcicky. As in a veklempt way of saying sticky. And boy, do they lay on the puns. Including, but not limited to, "Ladies, you've always wanted to schtick it to your husbands". I was actually in the kitchen when he said this and I ran in the room to see  the commercial as I couldn't believe what I just heard. So I guess it did its job.But, what is the Schticky, you ask? It is a collection of lint rollers. (Because their sticky... get it? Insert eye roll, here.) One is large like a broom (which he uses to collect pennies of all things), a medium one for couches, cars, etc. , and in the funniest (and I mean "odd" not "haha") moment, a travel-sized one.  But if I had doubted what I heard, I was in shock over what I saw.Some of you may remember that he was arrested a couple of years ago. Well, in the commercial, he actually promotes the small Schticky as a way to prepare for your "close-up". And how does he demonstrate said close-up? A mug shot, of course.  Yes, he smiles and winks at the camera as he rolls his shoulder with the mini-schticky while holding his booking number in the other hand.Which made me wonder if I really saw that? And sadly, the answer was, "yes".I rewound the DVR to confirm.My question is, have you see anything lately that has made you ask "did  just see that?"
