What's Happening -- Sustainable Food Center

As I mentioned in my review of Edie Bird products, 10% of their proceeds go to the Sustainable Food Center. I thought, therefore, that you might want more information on the SFC. I am new to the world of Farmer's Markets and local growth initiatives so I will refer you to their own words.

From seed to table, SFC creates opportunities for individuals to make healthy food choices and to participate in a vibrant local food system. Through organic food gardening, relationships with area farmers, interactive cooking classes and nutrition education, children and adults have increased access to locally grown food and are empowered to improve the long-term health of Central Texans and our environment.

And in their efforts to achieve those goals, they are in the midst of a Capital Campaign to create a permanent home. They stand at 70% in their goal.I have not yet personally participated in the SFC but based on Edie Bird's Jenni's enthusiasm, I certainly will be soon. I hope you will, too!
