Shining the Star-Light #11 -- Heroes Night Out

Sometimes, it is easy to forget that we have been at war for over a decade. Most of our lives go on as normal but, millions of troops have been deployed. Our men and women have served with honor and distinction in very difficult circumstances. They deserve our respect, yes, but some also need our help. War is not without casualties and many come home wounded. There are organizations out there who do step in to help. Today, as a part of my Veterans Day Series, I am shining my Star-Light on Heroes Night Out.Heroes Night Out was begun by an Austin based husband and wife team who began "on a mission to provide wounded heroes with a Heroes Night Out Appreciation Wallet containing six (6) $50.00 gift cards for dinners, a day or night at a sporting event, amusement park, or any other venue intended to give them a well deserved break from their every day routine turned into a far greater vision."That greater vision grew into the Green Zone Resource Center. The Green Zone provides a multi-tiered approach to the needs of a returning vet. It offers counseling, information on VA Loans, life coaching, and other many worthwhile services. If you're reading this and need help, I think they would be a great place to start. If you're looking for an organization to support, you certainly could do much worse. In general, check out their site and learn for yourself. For me, I think they are very worthy of the Star-Light.Thank you to all our veterans and those who support them.
