Hannah.... I Don't Think We're in Montana Anymore

Dear Miley,We get it. You are not a child. You are legally allowed to shake, and grind, and twerk. This, however, does not make you an adult. Here's my problem. You would have never been given your twerking moment had you not been featured weekly on Disney. Your attempts to shake off your days of "Party in the USA" do not prove you edgy or even sexy. They simply seem disrespectful to all the girls and parents who made you a star. It was not long ago that we were standing in line to buy tickets to your film. Those kids are not grown up yet. They still think you are special and worth emulating. Or at least, they did.Do you owe them anything? Maybe not. But you have been blessed with a success that so few attain. Do you really want to use it to teach girls that to be heard, seen, and appreciated, they have to dry hump a foam finger? I'm not a prude. If you were surrounded by your girlfriends in a club, I probably wouldn't have thought twice about your twerking skills. But when you go on TV, like it or not, you carry Hannah Montana with you. And again, without said character, you simply WOULD. NOT. HAVE. BEEN. THERE.Have enough respect for yourself and those who gave you this precious position and use it to empower. Do you have to? No, you don't. But should you? Yes. A sign of being an adult rather than an over-18 child, is to make choices that serve more than your own desires. Did you blow up twitter? Yes. Did you make any one's life better? No. Likely, not even your own.I wish you success. I hope that you find the place where grown up Miley can outgrow Hannah with grace and aplomb. Try looking at former Disney star Jodie Foster for a role model rather than Lindsay Lohan. Use your talent and your position to raise up rather than grind down. You and the world would be better for it.Sincerely,Star Traci
