Thankful Thursday #5 -- For Reasons You May Not Think

It's Thursday and I am returning from my sick-atus (sick + hiatus) to join my gals, Shelley and Helen, and say a little thanks!This week, I am saying thanks for an unusual reason. I completed my taxes. (http://www.hcpl.net/content/tax-deadline-looms)It took many hours of doing the expense work I could have should have done all year -- when will I ever learn? But despite illness, I found almost all my receipts, tracked down statements, and remembered three events that I had completely forgotten to account for. All of this resulted in a fair and reasonable tax bill.Yes, I had to write a check.So why are you thankful, Traci?Please forgive me while I wax a little patriotic. I live in a great country. My taxes go to support this country and that makes me feel good. So yes, I am thankful.

This week I have been ill as I mentioned, as have both of my kids. Yet I have reasons to say thanks. My husband has stayed awake after all his overnight shifts to get my kids to school. He has made dinner each night and bought me the Puffs with Vicks that I fell in love with after the aforementioned Helen brought it during my marathon pneumonia. If you haven't tried these things, they are a glimpse at Heaven. Or at least, if you had a cold in Heaven but of course, you wouldn't have a cold in Heaven. Because then it wouldn't be Heaven. Or at least, I hope...

Finally, I am thankful for the Easter holiday this weekend. My faith has always buoyed me in my life and Easter is a special time of renewal for me. I always enjoy watching my children hunt for eggs (and I don't mind the chocolate either!)To all my friends, whatever their faith, I wish you a healthy and happy weekend.
