What's Happening Austin - MuseOm Yoga & TXMOST

Austin, events, family One of the great things about living in Austin is we see things just a little bit differently than the rest of the world. I mean, we not only embrace weirdness, we made it our motto. So it's not surprising that someone thought to add yoga to a museum resulting in, you got it... "MuseOm" (And you know I can't resist a great own.)

Yoga + Museum = MuseOm

The Texas Museum of Science & Technology partnered with Trybe Yoga to host a unique set of museum-inspired yoga classes. MuseOm classes will be held in three different spaces based upon the theme, which will rotate trimonthly and allow guests to experience different areas of the museum.

1. Ohms & Oms In science, an ohm is a unit of electrical resistance; in yoga, Om is a mantra, which allows you to feel energy and vibrations flowing through you. These sessions will blend the two by placing your practice among the physics exhibits of TXMOST’s main gallery. This class will be held in August, November, February and May.

2. Stellar Asanas Yoga under the stars, no matter the weather! Flow through a yoga sequence surrounded by a customized star show inside of TXMOST’s Planetarium. The sun, stars and planets will cycle through their movements as you cycle through your asanas. This class will be held in September, December, March and June.

3. Stretch of Time Follow the story of life on Earth with a yoga practice inspired by and among the fossils of TXMOST’s Timewalk exhibition. This unique experience will have you moving your mats through the galleries as your setting changes from the earliest life on Earth through to the Ice Age, ending with a peaceful relaxation in the Planetarium. This class will be held in October, January, April and July.
