Float Away the Day at Schlitterbahn in South Padre
My kids love waterparks. Me? Not so much. Don't get me wrong. I love waterslides. I love pool time. I don't love lugging around tubes (usually two because they're bigger than Little Diva) and standing in lines on concrete stairs for extended periods. That's why I fell in love with Schlitterbahn on South Padre Island. It's a mom's dream. Or at least, this mom. Maybe I need to start dreaming bigger!.. Nonetheless, it is awesome. The slides in the main park are directly set off the lazy river which literally allows you to float the day away.
I received free admission to the park for my family for the purpose of this review. All opinions are mine. It is my Universe, after all.
Floating Away the Day at Schlitterbahn
You hop on a tube and can stay on that same tube the whole time. No waiting at the bottom of a ride for a tube. You literally are floating while waiting in line and a good deal of that time is even in the shade. Can this 46--year old, melanin deficient girl say "Hallelujah"? I stayed cool and while I did burn some (it's inevitable), it was NOTHING like past burns. Trust me, I am a peppermint, I am white or I am red, I am nothing in between. Not only did this option allow me to participate more fully with my kids, it allowed me to give the kids more freedom. When I was ready for a break, Sonny-Bunny could take his sister around to the rides because he didn't have to carry her tube. They just hooked onto each other and rode the river around. This resulted in...and
AKA Happy, relaxed parents taking a break. So if you are a lover of waterslides but not the time outside the water or if you're looking for a place to let your kiddos have a little freedom Schlitterbahn SPI fits the bill.A big thank you to Schlitterbahn and the group at @VisitSouthPadre. We will be back!
