This cartoon has always held a special place in my heart. If you want to know why I chose to teach my children about Santa Claus, this will give you a clue. To me, Santa represents the magic that can come from belief, irrational as it may be. Magic that comes from generosity and love. Magic that comes from believing that there is something beyond the brick and mortar of our world.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy.
