I Am Going to Have the Time of My LIfe

Twenty seven years ago, I fell in love with the man that is now my husband. And 27 years ago, we watched a certain romantic movie -- Dirty Dancing. All these years later, I still love the movie and the soundtrack. So many songs still play in my mind and I still wish I could dance like Jennifer Grey. Especially when she sailed into Patrick Swayze's arms after he declared that "nobody puts Baby in a corner."DD_Logo_PinkonBlackSo when I heard that Broadway in Austin was bringing "Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage" to Bass Concert Hall, I was ready for a dance down memory lane.  Now why a stage play instead of a revival of the film? Eleanor Bergstein, original screenwriter of the film and book writer for the musical shared her reasoning. “As I learned how many people watched the movie over and over and over,I began to think that what they really wanted was to share more intensely in the event, to step through the screen and be there while the story was happening." How fun! I definitely wanted to step through the screen. I knotted my shirt  over jean shorts for a year trying to  hop into that film!DD07-2So if you want to in on the fun -- evidently there are new scenes and more music! - join me next Tuesday, November 11th for Opening Night!
