A Star in My Universe

Where Are You, Christmas?
I’m not quite Cindy Lou, but you get the idea. It’s definitely been a big year and I’ve definitely changed.

Wonderful (Silly) Christmastime
We’re simply having a wonderful Christmastime with Paul McCartney and a leftover piece from my daughter’s Halloween costume as Kate Bush. The only thing better than dancing around to silly music at the holidays is to be equally silly. In this case, I’m your girl.

O, Christmas Tree
Day One - O, Christmas Tree
I often say to my husband, “you’re a good man, Charlie Brown” and this little DollarTree is a good little Charlie Brown tree.

The Countdown has Begun
I really love Christmas. Like, if Clark Griswald had discovered Michael Bublé after learning that Ralph was his real father, loves Christmas.

Hearts and Spirits Grow
A new series on Pure Flix tells the tale of Lenny the Lion and Lucy the Lamb, who work inside a magical garden where anything can grow! The stories revolve around the two taking adventures and accomplishing their goals by learning a Bible story or an original song. The kids get to grow and learn right along on these adventures, too!

Listen Up: An Audible Gift Guide
I thought I would share my favorite audibles with you here. If you are looking for a way to still enjoy books yourself, or as a unique gift for a similarly busy person, read on or listen up.

It’s a Strange World
It’s a Strange World. Well, we knew that one. Of course, as an 80’s girl, I can’t help but hear the melancholic refrain of “Mad World” by Tears for Fears. This candy-colored world is a Disney one, however, so there is no long-standing melancholy.
Just fun. Strange fun, as to be expected.

A Journey Home
Sam is a tiny kitten that we follow from a pocket in an overcoat of a woman living on the streets to life on a farm. Throughout we hear from all of the colorful characters along the way, learning each’s perspective of the world that Max was entering.

Swept Up with the Leaves
Let's talk some tea. It's not just the leaves that has been swept up lately. Much like the smaller leaves curled up and lost under piles of more and more leaves, items from my to-do list have fallen off and been forgotten under more and more undone things.

Dear Julie,
As I watched your story of a woman feeling creatively lost, especially in the wake of 2001, I connected deeply. I simply wasn’t happy. I, too had a husband that loved me. In fact, I had two children I loved deeply. However, I had a deep hungry hole that I could NOT fill.

Election Day
So while we should never take our right to express ourselves for granted, we should also never take for granted the importance of a appreciating our other citizens’ right to do the same. Civility and kindness don’t have to be rights to be the right thing to do. We don’t have to agree to agree to be civil.

Power of Joy
I could write so much more here. In fact, I took copious notes and just hit delete over three full paragraphs. Words would not do this film justice. You simply must see it.
It’s a big film masquerading as a small one.
Find it.
See it.

Aqua Teen is Back
Do you have Aqua Teen fans in the house? If so, they’ll be happy to know that their favorite misfits, including the loveable Meatwad, Frylock, Master Shake, and Carl are back in Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm.

Paul’s Promise
Everybody on earth is doing what they can to help put out Paul’s fire, but it takes a broken promise to his Momma that finally changes everything. This film at its core is about redemption.

A Boo-tiful Fall
As the weather shifts cooler, the leaves start to fall, and we head out to pumpkin patches, it looks like we are on our way to a boo-tiful fall.

Pray for Florida
However you pray, please keep the devastated people of central Florida in your prayers. They will need them for a long time.

Gone in 60 Seconds
Miles may have separated us. Years when long distance was not free (MCI Friends & Family, anyone) may have limited how often we talked, but NEVER was the friendship in question.
