A Star in My Universe
Back to School with Monster High
Our kids aren’t the only ones going back to school. The girls from Monster High are back, as well. Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, and Frankie Stein are sophomores this year and face a new threat along with new classes and new friends. Sounds about right for a school with monster in the name, right?
I Believe in Jane
This is the spirit behind the Apple TV+ show, Jane. When the first season premiered last year, I had the great pleasure of talking with the stars Ava Louise Murchison and Mason Blomberg via a roundtable. Aster and Aslyn got in the fun. Inspired by the daily legacy of Jane Goodall, Ava’s character, “Jane” (of course!) and her best friend David take imaginative adventures centering on a different endangered animal in each episode.
Movies for Under the Tree
In my house, few presents win more than movies. Even in this digital world, my daughter especially loves an actual DVD/Blu-Ray in hand. Here are a few that will be winning as gifts for our family tree,
She Loves New York
Sometimes you come across a book that speaks to your heart and this new beauty did that in full! Dearest New York by Deidre Gartner was like a postcard I would have written to the NYC I lived and loved before 9/11. My heart sang with the pages.
Surprised by Love
Sometimes love. whether it comes for or from something can be frustrating. In fact, correction, that is more often than not the case. This can be true whether it is a passion for a subject studied, a romance blossoming, or even an understanding of something greater than oneself, a newfound, or refound belief in God.
Back to the Zoo
Sometimes life hands you full circle moments. When it does, don’t skip the chance to jump in the middle. This is true even if it leaves you a little nervous. Mine came when thanks to my friend, Di over at FSM Media, I got to interview Doug and Emily aka Emmy Jo of the New Zoo Revue.

The Legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Debuts All-New Reimagined The Greatest Show On Earth® - this American Icon has launched a spectacular nationwide tour that brings comedy, thrills, and artistry to Children of All Ages© and it’s coming to Buffalo!
After Death - More than a Movie
That is the focus of the intriguing film, “After Death” in theaters now. It is a documentary wherein actual survivors of near-death experiences share their true stories of what they saw and lived in those moments on the other side.
It’s Not Business, Only Personal
I am loathe to share anything about the show other than it was my FAVORITE current show. I hated it ending.
My only consolation is that “Succession: The Complete Fourth & Final Season” will also be available to purchase on DVD on September 12. “Succession: The Fourth and Final Season” and “Succession: The Complete Series” are available now to purchase Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu, and more.
Let’s get Schwifty: Rick & Morty are Available Across the Multiverse and DVD
OOH WEE! Rick & Morty is a favorite in our household and has been for a long time. So we were ready to go on an intergalactic adventure across the multi-verse with the release of the Rick and Morty: The Complete Seasons 1-6 boxed set on Blu-ray™ and DVD.
With Friends Like These…
I love it when I get to learn about great shows from my children, That way we can share in it together. That is the case for me with the animated hit, “Smiling Friends”. Also, if you know anything about me, you know I love the title.
A Ghoul-ishly Good Time
My girl may have grown up (though she still has a handful of dolls) but guess what? So has Monster High. With its latest film, Monster High, The Movie. Nickelodeon has brought the daughters of our favorite horror characters into the live-action world.
Read for Free
With traveling a lot, a recent move and purge, and well, inflation, I haven’t been buying as many books as I did before. To begin, I started using my Kindle more, because as long as I have my phone I would have a book. Fortunately, I found there are many places online where you can download free eBooks. I thought I’d share a few popular sites for you to check out.
Let the “Sound of Freedom” Ring
On this holiday, freedom is a word we will all be saying a lot. How often do we contemplate the word? Not just the larger macro-definition, but the true daily sense of what it means to be free?
The film, “Sound of Freedom” opening in theaters today, looks at that very subject. There are people living among us that are not free. Their lives are not their own. their choices are not their own. Their bodies are not their own. And in all too many cases, they are precious children.
Fun from X,Y, to Z
In the new film, The Super Mario Bros Movie, we follow Mario and his brother Luigi through an adventure that reflects all three of the generations. From bumping heads and eating mushrooms to carts and Princess Peach, Gens X, Y, and Z will enjoy seeing our heroes traverse through all these worlds fighting a lovesick Bowser along the way.
How D & D Got Its Groove Back
Yep, Dungeons & Dragons is having a moment. Yes, that D & D. The one known to big sisters and their nerdy siblings everywhere.
A Very Big Mermaid
With all the lush beauty of a Pixar and all the action detail of Marvel, this Little Mermaid is a must ticket purchase. It is possibly the most beautiful film I have seen.
Spark This
Two brothers discover the first Earthborn Transformers, Terrans, and join them, as well as our favorite Autobots, in a battle of good vs. evil against a half-man/half-robot Cyborg, Mandroid.
Ready for a Ride?
Hallmark certainly threw us for a flip this season with its new drama, Ride. Yes, a drama. And, yes, that Hallmark Channel. The one we know and love, and sometimes groan at, for those comfy, cozy, always working out in the end romance Hallmark.
