Eating After 7 PM - First Steps

Welcome to week 2 of my trip to better health. I’ve been busy learning how many of those things we all “know”, we don’t really know and unlearning a HUGE number of food myths that have been lessening the value of my food when it comes to energy and being the healthiest I can be. If you missed how I started on this yellow brick road to better eating you can check out Week One, here.
I have been making conscious choices with my eating (while still indulging in my favorites) and hydrating. In his book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight, Joel Marion really stresses the importance of water intake. And while I knew it was important, I am learning just how important.
“Water helps digest your food, expel wastes, regulate your temperature, protect your tissues, cushion your joints, and protect your spinal column, among many other vital functions. It is through water that hormones flow to the proper organs, that nutrients reach all cells, and that toxins are diluted and removed from the body.”
Struggling with chronic pain and temperature sensitivity, this upped the ante for me. Anything I can do to support my system, I am all in. In the mornings, rather than eating an often sugar-laden low-quality carb practice (donuts, I’m looking at you!), I’m supercharging my mornings with a 3-Minute Fat-Burning Morning Ritual of lemon water.
“One of the simplest 3-Minute Fat-Burning Morning Rituals, lemon water is a glass of water mixed with the juice of one half of a lemon. This drink provides all the benefits of regular drinking water, which supports weight loss, digestive health, physical performance, and cognitive function.”
So again, while weight was not my focus - everything else was. But like all of you, I have no time. I knew I couldn’t commit to a bunch of difficult preparation or strict rules that I would fail almost immediately. I won’t name any here but anything that involves eating ONLY (insert food here) or NEVER eat _________, it just isn’t going to happen for me. Nope. No way. NO.
Marion understood that when he wrote the book.
Is it difficult to follow the plan?
“It's not. And that's exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7 pm works because it caters to our bodies’ natural instincts.”
Which is reflected in the title itself, isn’t it? I can’t be the only one who is hungry while watching whichever Housewife is in season on Bravo. (Don’t judge me!) Marion says, “...you don't have to deal with the burden of eating every few hours. And you don't have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before bed.” Woot! That means I’m even good through Trevor Noah! Blueberries in Greek yogurt has become a late-night fave!
